Quote of the day

There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.

-- PJ O'Rourke

(Thanks to C.O. / J.G. for introducing this one to me.)

The word 'FUCK' written over and over to completely cover the canvas. Tubes of paint were used to write directly onto the surface. No paintbrushes or any other implements were used.

I paint because

I paint...because I'm sad. Or, I paint because...I'm enraged. I paint because I'm frustrated, or because I ache, or because I'm excited, or scared, or insecure, or happy, or confused, or doubled over with grief. I paint because I feel, and I feel so intensely that it fucking overwhelms me.

(And by paint, I mean creating art in general. I just happened to be painting at the time I wrote this.)

Open call art submission

At the last possible second, I have just rushed to submit something to the 3rd Ward Open Call for their 2010 winter solo show (the deadline was March 1st, 2010 at 11:59 pm).

3rd Ward submission

My submission was a single photo of my painting Conditional. I would have submitted more pictures of other pieces, but each submission costs $15, and that's all I could afford at the moment -- planning ahead fail, hahaha.

Conditional

Anyway, wish me luck!

[Also, I very very gratefully accept donations for little expenses like this. If you like my work and would like to help out, you can send me a coupla bux through Paypal.]

Quote o' the Day

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Why does this stuff drive me crazy? Haha...

Found this on Facebook today...naturally, I had to take a screenshot & take a red pen to it. :P

My opinion is that your spelling sucks.

Exciting news - 'Last' has found a buyer

I received a phone call from someone at Hygienic Art early yesterday afternoon to tell me that my painting, Last, had sold! I don't know who the buyer is yet, but the gallery will mail me that information along with the check. Exciting!

Not only am I happy that it sold.. but I am relieved I don't have to trek back out to New London to pick it up, haha.

Last - on display at Hygienic Art January 30 through February 13, 2010

Quote of the day

When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion.
