To be nobody but yourself in a world
that's doing its best night and day
to make you everybody else,
means to fight the hardest battle
anyone can fight
and never stop fighting.
-- ee cummings

O great creator of being grant us one more hour to perform our art & perfect our lives.
-- Jim Morrison

Art is meant to disturb.
-- Georges Braque

The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.
To him... a touch is a blow,
a sound is a noise,
a misfortune is a tragedy,
a joy is an ecstasy,
a friend is a lover,
a lover is a god,
and failure is death.
Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - - - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating.
-- Pearl S. Buck

In ancient times there was a country whose harvest came in and it was poisonous.
Those who ate of it became insane.
"There is but one thing to do," said the King,
"We must eat the grain to survive, but there must be
those among us who will remember that we are insane."
--Anonymous

"Madman" I have been call'd:
"Fool" they call thee:
I wonder which they Envy,
Thee or Me?
-- William Blake

"And now they're telling me I'm crazy over here because I don't sit there like a goddamn vegetable. Don't make a bit of sense to me. If that's what's bein' crazy is, then I'm senseless, out of it, gone-down-the-road, wacko..."
-- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

You can't kill me
You won't break me
You can't kill me
You won't break me

Chain me, Beat me
Cut me, Kick me
Whip me, Strip me
Burn me, EAT ME!
You'll just make me stronger!
-- Gwar

Lonely? Hahaha! What does it mean? Who, me? Haha!
-- Iggy Pop

Language has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone, and the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone.
-- Paul Johannes Tillich

To be alone is to be different,
to be different is to be alone.
--Suzanne Gordon

Today I wanted
Desperately to sing a song
But I knew no words.
-- anonymous haiku

I believe that everyone else my age is an adult whereas I am merely in disguise.
-- Margaret Atwood

"And SCREW, may I add, YOU!"
-- Frasier Crane

This calls for a special blend of psychology and extreme violence.
-- Vyvyan (The Young Ones)

An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way.
-- Charles Bukowski
