Some days

Some days, I sort of have shit figured out. Some days, I am fucking clueless and lost. Not sure what today is yet, but here I am. Getting up, getting out, getting going. Clear a path.

Work stress

It's only 20 hours of work a week at my job, but the amount of stress I've been having there lately has been reaching unbearable levels.

Today is just one example. I was in an upbeat mood, planned a bit of the video I'm going to do for my Kickstarter project (stay tuned for details), went for an amazing walk in the beautiful weather, and came back happy and energetic. Within minutes of being at work, I became annoyed, impatient, easily upset, frustrated, and in physical pain. Everything hurts, every little thing is causing every emotional & mental nerve ending to shriek out in pain. As I sit here typing this, I'm acutely annoyed at my difficulty with even putting this into words. Every little distraction, interruption, hindrance to what I'm trying to focus on is just irritating the fuck out of me; I want to fucking throw things and slam doors and scream obscenities so violent and vulgar that they crack the fucking earth in two.

Everything

From here on out, I need to just pour everything I have into my art, as if my life depended on it, because it kind of does.

XXX PRIVATE SHOW to be part of the MaMachinima International Festival

XXX PRIVATE SHOW, a machinima that I helped to create with Arahan Claveau as a part of an installation of the same name for ArthOle Season 2, is being shown at the Ma Machinima International Festival, an event that is held both in Second Life and in Amsterdam. I will be in attendance in Second Life for the event, at around 11:30 am PST/2:30 EST, to answer questions and speak about the film.

I've copied & pasted some relevant information, from both the ArthOle blog (courtesy of Arahan Claveau) and from the MMIF press release:
This weekend sees the return of the annual Ma Machinima International Festival (MMIF), and a machinima entitled XXX PRIVATE SHOW I shot for an installation at the ArthOle gallery in 2008, is showing as part of the festival's schedule. MMIF 2011 runs from Friday June 17 through Saturday June 18, and the ArthOle machinima will play on Saturday in block 3, starting at 11.30am (SLT/PDT).

MMIF is a mixed-reality event, taking place simultaneously at the LEA Theatre in Second Life and Club Karlsson in Amsterdam.

Avatars starring at Global Film Festival MMIF 2011

MaMachinima International Festival
June 17 / 18, 2011
Web live + LEA Theatre (SL™) + Club Karlsson, Amsterdam (NL)

‘MMIF 2011′ is the third edition of an annual film festival in 3D cyberspace with an interactive cinema screening in physical space (‘RL’). Audiences can follow some of the MMIF happenings live via the web.

The MMIF is a celebration of Machinima: films created in virtual worlds and video games. On 3D Internet platforms like Second Life® for instance, any kind of movie set can be built at very low cost. The MMIF aims to bring Machinima, a new cinematic art form, to a wider audience. Films by professional machinima producers and by those who are just starting out will be screened at MMIF 2011. Machinima directors and avatar actors from all over the world are present in real time at the virtual theatre in SL. These ’Machinimatographers’ will present over fifty short films and discuss their work in front of a live global audience of viewers.

Folio

Folio

I bought a folio to contain all of my loose pen drawings. It's getting pretty full already, but there's still room for more. I can fit about 19 more full-page drawings, or about 39 half-page ones. My goal is to fill up the folio by August 31st of this year.

Skin Hunger, blogged

My revision of the Skin Hunger installation was mentioned recently in a couple of different Second Life blogs:

Linden Lab has done something really good! They have set up a 9-sim region and dedicated it for the use of Second Life artists. According to the wiki, the sims are to be used in three ways: a general sandbox area, a "self-curating gallery area" for somewhat longer lasting displays by single artists, and a "building resources area" with freebies, classes and other goodies of use to artists working in this virtual environment. It has been open for less than two weeks, and only the sandbox area is active so far. But this is an exciting development for artists in SL. And, in a very tangible sense, a validation of the critical role artists have traditionally played in making this world a place worth living.

LL recently opened the LEA Sandbox and I have been dropping by every now and then to take a look at the things people have been sharing and creating. The sandbox is a really great place to stop in and get a look at people in their creative process or to see what others are showing. Yesterday evening I decided to record a few of them to share with you after feeling the need to film Nebulosus Severine's "Skin Hunger".

Guest appearance on Soup Radio

I was recently asked to be a guest on Penumbra Carter's Soup Radio segment for the month of June:

Penumbra Carter is joined by Nebulosus Severine at the The Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) Art Sandbox in Second Life. They tour the space and discuss work by Robin Moore, Ozzy Wozniak, znort Gant and Alizarin Goldflake. The LEA Art Sandbox is supported by Linden Lab as an area where artists can rez objects, experiment, and learn how to build. The LEA exists to promote understanding and support of virtual art.
(Duration 50 mins)

Skin Hunger - revision and new location

Skin Hunger has been moved to the LEA Art Sandbox, due to prim limitations in the Amsterdam sim. It will be viewable here until approximately June 16th. Come see the new revisions, or visit it for the first time if you haven't yet!
